Memorable WWE Moments From The Last Decade
2020 signaled the end of an incredible decade that saw a lot of progress and breathtaking moments in the entertainment world. Even the wrestling space was kept in check, having some electrifying situations that most fans never saw coming.
We did some digging, and boy, have things been entertaining. From buried grudges to the legendary streak to impossible wins, this has been a decade many diehard fans will live to remember for years to come. So here are some incredible WWE moments from the 2010s that will have you feeling nostalgic emotions and probably even send you looking for the clips to relive them.
Bret Hart and Shawn Michael Bury The Hatchet, 2010
Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels had one of the longest-standing feuds in WWE history after the latter joined Vince McMahon and stabbed Bret in the back. The Montreal Screwjob was a nasty affair that shocked many fans, and Bret departed from the ring shortly after.
Everything seemed set in stone until January 2010, when Mr. Hart returned to the ring. This time he was ready to face Shawn, and it wasn't what fans expected. Instead of exchanging fisticuffs, Shawn and Bret made up, much to the delight of the fans. The roaring applause after the firm handshake and embrace is enough to show you how big this moment was.
The End of the Streak, 2014
Since his debut on the main stage, the Undertaker has been known as Mr. Wrestlemania. He was the only superstar on the roster who had never lost a Wrestlemania match, and thus the iconic streak was born. Going into 2014, fans expected our man to dish out the business as usual to Brock Lesnar, but they were in for a huge surprise.
After 21 wins, the streak finally came to a shocking end, leaving fans lost and confused. We even got the "Shocked Undertaker Guy" meme from this event, proving how legendary this moment was. It was so unexpected we can count very few moments since WWE's inception that can match up.
CM Punk Clinches The WWE Championship, 2011
2011 was a pretty exciting year for the WWE roster. CM Punk's career was on the rise as he had delivered show-stopping performances back to back over the years and had the spotlight on him. He was set to face John Cena for the lucrative WWE title, but his unscripted sentiments had people second-guessing his chances.
Luckily, the match went down as scheduled in his Chicago hometown, where fans shook the rafters welcoming the hero. The match had everyone seated at the edge of their seats, anticipating the worst outcome. Then the gavel struck, and CM Punk left the ring with the belt on his shoulder, leaving the crowd super ecstatic.
