Retirement Did Not Suit These NFL Players
There is always a time in a person's life when he decides to take a back seat from their career and enjoy a retired life. Nonetheless, not all love the retirement phase after following their careers passionately. The same is the case with some of these NFL players who, after calling it a day, could not continue to remain mere spectators.
So they decided to resume their athletic careers, and for some, the comeback was even more successful than the prior stint. Unfortunately, in the case of a few sportspersons, things went downhill, and reentering the field did not turn out to be the right decision.
Rob Gronkowski
Football fans are all in praise of former American footballer Rob Gronkowski. Throughout his entire career, he played at the tight-end position, which earned him the title of one of the greatest tight-end players of all time. So it was a disappointment for many when the athlete announced his retirement in 2018 after watching this sportsman on the field for eight glorious years.
Fortunately, Rob could not keep himself from playing, so after a short hiatus of two years, he returned to sports. This time the jock swung back with a bang when he played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sadly, Rob has again announced his retirement, and we hope it doesn't last long.
Brett Favre
Brett Favre is a veteran when it comes to retirement and is among the few players who prefer brief hiatuses in between their careers. All those who follow football regularly know this man is a legendary player, and for others, we have to say his shelves full of awards says it all. Throughout his nearly two decades career, Brett has called it quits thrice only to return the first two times.
When the athlete first made public, his plans to retire in 2007 left many heartbroken, but fortunately, it did not last more than two months. Again in 2008, Brett took a break for six months. Nonetheless, the third time was the charm, and the footballer left for good.
John Riggins
In the case of John Riggins, his first retirement was less by choice and more of a forced decision. At the inception of his career, this footballer was named among the top ten rushers and was also bestowed with Martin's Award twice. Unfortunately, at the peak of his career, John hit a snag. The sportsperson's contract with the *Washington Redskins* got him in trouble, and he had to hang his boots earlier than expected.
After 11 months of break, he returned to the team after negotiating with the new agent. This time John was on the field with a changed mindset which helped him secure victories for his squad until his final retirement.
