Serena Williams Did It In Style
After almost three decades of play, Serena Williams is finally bidding farewell to the game she loves the most. Not only does she love it, but the tennis world also loves her back ferociously and will never forget her as one of the greatest to have played the game.
Having said that, not only did the fans love her for her aggressive style of play and proficiency on the court but also for her unique fashion sense. Serena brought loads of energy to the court and, with it, her signature style. She thrashed her opponents while looking like a fashion icon.
She Was a Fashionista From the Start
Serena Williams, the celebrated tennis player, began her professional career in the 1990s at the age of fourteen. Yet, long before she became famous on the professional scene, Serena started experimenting with her court attire.
This picture proves that she was a fashionista on the tennis court from day one. Taken in the early ‘90s, the picture captures a young Serena practicing. Interestingly, instead of donning the traditional white, she donned a skirt and blouse with beautiful patterns on them. Since she has a love for fashion, it is only fair that the news of her announcement came through *Vogue*.
She Never Let Her Focus Away From Fashion
The early years of an athlete’s career are the most important ones because they set the tempo for their career journey. While Serena kept her head in the game during the initial years of her professional career, she never went out of touch with her feminine side.
Even at the turn of the century, when Serena was still trying to establish herself, she never failed to dress aesthetically. The star can be seen here in her first US Open from 1999, wearing a yellow Puma dress. She even accessorized for the big day and wore gold hoop earrings and matching beads in her hair.
She Grew Bolder and Bolder
In the early 2000s, Serena made it clear to the world that she would not shy away from trying new things. So for the 2002 Eurocard German Open, Serena wore a coral-colored Puma dress instead of plain white, with it a heart pendant and a gold watch.
Just a couple of months later, she made an appearance at the US Open, sporting a black catsuit. She added a dash of color to the overall look with a pair of pink and white sneakers. In addition, for the 2003 Australian Open next year, the star expressed her love for bright colors in front of the whole world by wearing an orange-white puma dress with a rhino strap and matching sneakers.
